Here are some things you need to start working on that don't require any additional approvals:
Requesting letters of recommendation from people you know in the community. These can be from teachers, principals, pastors, business owners, etc., HOWEVER they should not be related to you. Also, it should not include scout leaders affiliated with Troop 545. These are people who know you and will be willing to write a letter recommending you. Here is a sample letter you can use to ask for one of these letters in a formal way. You can make a copy of this letter and modify it to fit your needs. You can also simply ask the person. You need to have at least three letters (from 3 different people), and it is preferred that the letters be on letterhead representing the institution that the person is affiliated with. It is better to ask more than 3 people, since sometimes people are busy, and this is not something you want to have to bug them for.
Start working on your letter of ambition. This is a 1-2 page double spaced typewritten statement about where you have been in your Scouting journey and where you plan to go with your life.
Download the Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook to a PC and look over the first few pages. Do you have an idea for a service project?
